Several new interactive choices and branching during gameplay are possible.Scenes are grouped into the story's originally planned sections.Disc searches have much smoother video transitions. All animation recorded on the laserdisc is now used. These ROMs also optionally make playable the prototype animation newly recorded at the end of the Dragon's Lair Limited Edition Laserdisc that was pressed in 2002. This new disc is not required for the standard game settings. The previous enhancements from the 1.x series of the ROM are also included. When you play DLE with the pay-as-you-go setting turned on, you will see these messages dividing the scenes into sections correctly.

Easily the best retropie site i've found on the web.The original Dragon's Lair arcade game (Cinematronics 1983) plays a lot more randomly than the animators intended. The scenes were meant to be shuffled around, but not as much as they ultimately were. They were planned to remain in sections. These new ROMs restore the design of the story by playing all the castle scenes first, followed by the cavernous scenes. See the corroboration written in the many "pay-as-you-go" messages stored on the laserdisc and in the instructions that were written on the prototype control panel before the animation was finished. (he's also got some interesting posts elsewhere on his website about how to bend wood!) Runs at perfect Arcade speed on my Pi2.Įdit: this site above is also a great source for rom packs and other howto guides for most things retropie. This guy has assembled the packages needed, it is as simple as just dumping the files into the right directories on your Pi, that's it. Been getting back into tinkering with my Retropie setup of late, thought the only thing missing was my favourite Laserdisc games from back in the day, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.Īfter spending a couple of hours reading the high maintenance voodoo that seemed to be getting those working on my Pi2 running retropie, i found what is definitely the simplest way to get it going, for others in the same boat, here's the links.
